Philippe Coutinho to undergo shoulder surgery and is out until the end of October, Liverpool confirm
Philippe Coutinho needs an operation on his shoulder and will be out until the end of next month.
Coutinho injured his shoulder in a challenge with Swansea's Ashley Williams at the Liberty Stadium on Monday and Liverpool have confirmed the Brazilian playmaker needs surgery.
Brendan Rodgers will be gutted to lose Coutinho for the next five or six weeks and hopes he will be back before the end of next month.
"Liverpool have confirmed Philippe Coutinho will undergo a procedure on the shoulder injury he sustained in Monday evening's 2-2 draw with Swansea City," a club statement read.
"After being assessed by the Reds medical staff, it's been decided that Coutinho will now have surgical stabilisation on the AC joint in his shoulder.
"Liverpool hope to have the 21-year-old back in contention again towards the end of October."
