The young midfielder has explained his decision to leave Barcelona for the Premier League side and is looking forward to the challenge of playing in England's top flight
Midfielder Oriol Romeu has stressed that it was impossible for him to turn down the chance to join Chelsea as it is an opportunity that comes along only once for a young footballer.
The Spain Under-20 star completed his move from Barcelona to Chelsea for a fee of €5 million (£4.3m) on Thursday and is looking forward to plying his trade in the Premier League.
"Obviously, it hurts a lot to leave Barcelona. This has always been my club. However, opportunities like Chelsea only come along once. You have to make a decision and go for it," Romeu said to Marca.
"Chelsea are a great option for me. Both clubs had reached an agreement, so it was up to me to make a final decision. I am looking forward to the challenge at Chelsea. Negotiations went pretty smoothly and I'm glad that the deal was closed this fast."
The 19-year-old midfielder is a product of the famed Barcelona youth academy and made his official debut in May 2011. He has signed a contract until 2015 with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
