Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has told Danny Sturridge his development will stall if he stays at Chelsea.
Coyle has seen Sturridge dazzle for Chelsea in pre-season, but he has also spotted that he has been playing out wide. And that has given Coyle hope he may get the chance to bring him back on loan.
Coyle said: “I played Daniel down the middle and he was sensational with Kevin Davies – he would be the first to tell you how good he is to play with. Different people see different things and play with different systems.
“Daniel is such an intelligent player that he could play in a different role – in fact, he would take the gloves off Petr Cech to get in the team.
“But I always felt that Daniel wanted to play through the middle and we will see what happens.
“He is such an exciting young talent, but he has to be playing week-in week-out.”
