Hiddink – “I Can Do Two Jobs”
Guus Hiddink has admitted that he is open to a dual-role combining the jobs at Chelsea and Turkey.
Hiddink, 64, currently heads the Turkish national side but says he could do that job as well as managing Chelsea. The Dutchman was Chelsea manager on a caretaker basis in 2009 while also managing the Russian national team and he says he can do two jobs once again.
“I feel energetic, so a club role is more preferable – and that’s what I like, working every day,” he said.
“I feel I need to do more. I’ve trained Australia and PSV at the same time, as well as Russia and Chelsea, and I was very happy. We’ll see what happens with Turkey.”
Turkey go into Friday’s vital Euro 2012 clash with Belgium knowing that defeat could almost certainly end their hopes of qualification but victory in the game in Brussels could put them in the driving seat for a place in the play-offs in the autumn.
However, Hiddink, who is in charge of Turkey until after Euro 2012, added that Chelsea had yet to make any offer, though he added that he was sure the Turkish FA were aware of the speculation.
“I haven’t told the chairman what my thoughts are yet but he is an intelligent man – I’m sure he follows the world’s media.”
