Anderlecht starlet Romelu Lukaku arrives in London for Chelsea medical
Young Belgian arrives in the capital before heading to the Blues’ Cobham training complex to undergo fitness tests ahead of reported £20 million move to the west London club
Anderlecht starlet Romelu Lukaku has arrived in London to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Chelsea.
The 18-year-old Belgian arrived at St Pancras station on Monday morning before heading to the Blues’ training complex in Cobham, Surrey, to undergo routine medical tests before finalising the transfer, believed to be worth around £20 million.
Chelsea reached an agreement with Anderlecht to sign the young striker on Saturday, with Lukaku revealing via his Twitter account that he was set to travel to London to complete the deal.
The remaining formalities of the deal are likely to be completed on Monday, allowing Lukaku time to join up with the Chelsea squad ahead of next Saturday’s opening Premier League fixture against Stoke, although he is not expected to feature in that game.
Since making his debut for Anderlecht at the age of 16, Lukaku has netted an impressive 33 times in 73 appearances, and his physical power and clinical finishing have attracted comparisons with new team-mate and long-time idol Didier Drogba.
