Ex-Chelsea star Venables raps Torres: Stop blaming others

Former Chelsea striker Terry Venables has told Fernando Torres to stop blaming others for his poor form.
The ex-Tottenham and Barcelona boss wrote in The Sun: "Whatever explanations or excuses Fernando Torres offers for the poor start he has made to his Chelsea career, the fact remains there is only one person on the planet who can haul him out of his current slump and restore him to former glories: Himself.
"The Spaniard has obviously not lived up to his price tag since his jaw-dropping £50million switch from Anfield in January.
"Everybody it seems has an opinion on why it has not worked out.
"I have known of players taking time to settle but not to this extent. The price tag has been a heavy burden, along with the weight of being at the centre of such a sensational transfer between two heavyweight clubs.
"But even more damaging has been his form, fitness and confidence, none of which were buoyant before he left Liverpool.
"Tactics, team-mates and style of play have also been cited for Torres' terrible transfer.
"He caused uproar this week by claiming Chelsea's players were too old and slow.
"But he needs to stop searching for the causes of his nightmare and start working on ways to wake from it."
