上季在士砵亭表現良好的般奴費南迪斯今年夏天曾經和熱刺、曼聯以及皇馬等球隊傳出傳聞。其中，他和熱刺是最接近的，但轉會最終未有發生。熱刺改為由西甲球隊貝迪斯借入阿根廷中場路些素。般奴費南迪斯近日接受葡萄牙傳媒訪問時表示大家都知道熱刺對他十分有興趣，並盡全力希望簽入他。而士砵亭會方也很清楚他的立場，在英格蘭踢波是他的最大夢想。但是在他和熱刺達成合約協議後，士砵亭認為熱刺的開價不夠高，因此拒絕他的轉會。他也唯有接受會方這個決定。

It was and is my goal to play in England, Sporting you know that, everyone knows that, and there were conditions for things to be done. But Sporting understood that the value was not enough and I have to respect the decision."
